The sold-out May 5, 2016 "The Mountain Calls" event at the Throckmorton Theater in Mill Valley had so many wonderful elements, here are some highlights:

First, Tomales Miwok descendent Sky Road Webb shared indigenous stories about the mountain with us, and then introduced poet Jane Hirshfield, who read 15 of her poems that related to the mountain and the restoration work that has begun there.

After Jane read her beautiful poems, we showed the" Mountains Made of Chalk Fall Into the Sea, Eventually" film (the second in the West Peak trilogy).  Actually we showed a 4-minute cutdown of the film.

Doug McConnell then spoke about the work of OneTam, and introduced MMWD board member Armando Quintero, who spoke specifically about the restoration project, which has already begun!

And finally we showed the last film in the West Peak Trilogy and then closed the night with Sky Road teaching us a Miwok song "The Eagle's Children."

Onward!
